At home, we may or may not have tried to come up with other Taylor Swift songs to suggest for Star Trek parodies for about 15 minutes last night while we made dinner. I regret that I've already been bested by two suggestions in this thread but I do not regret that use of my time.

I had a few different more elaborate ideas, yeah, including splicing in bits from that DS9 callback episdoe (as well as Dr. Phlox feeding a tribble to one of his other pets on Enterprise, and I think there was an animated series episode as well?). Another thought was to try and actually shot-for-shot match the original Taylor Swift episode by cutting in other TOS footage from episodes with e.g. dancing, musical performances, and Kirk standing around in a field of debris and shouting. But boy that would have been a whole lot more work, and I felt like this was pretty good bang for my video editing buck, so here we are.

"We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together" could be done as a duet by Neelix and Tuvok as an epilogue to the Voyager episode Tuvix, in which by a transporter accident or some such shit they end up merged into a single new person for the bulk of an episode, until at the end Janeway makes the hard decision to murder the pleading, hungry-for-life Tuvix back into his component people becausedoing otherwise would fuck with the status quo it was the right thing to do or whatever.

Oh, man, the best part of that deep-V shirt is that the Starfleet logo is sideways down near the hem. Like they were all "it's still a uniform, see, down here, there's insignia and everything, plus it's velcro so you can put your space pager there..."

The producers and Shatner were eager to distinguish the captain visually, so they gave Kirk a wraparound tunic option. Later, in TNG, the same impulse spawned the Captain's jacket worn by Picard.
By the by, if you pause at 2:37, you get one of the few chances to see Jimmy Doohan's finger sacrificed to aNazi sniper nervous Canuck sentry. In most episodes Doohan did his own blocking (e.g. standing at his engineering console with his right hand behind his body) so you wouldn't notice it.

Tribbles were clearly genetically-engineered security devices created by some species or group worried about an identification gap after the the Klingons developed their "look like humans with beards" technology prior to TOS. They are not so much racist themselves as they are the racial profiling tools of xenophobic higher-order lifeforms.
